Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Jax Kids Aquatics see clients? 

Jax Kids Aquatics will provide aquatic based services within your own private pool. We also treat clients at community pools within Duval county. Find our community-based locations here. We also provide land based PT within the home, as well as virtual visits.

 

What ages does Jax Kids Aquatics treat?

Jax Kids Aquatics serves children ages birth to 18 years old. 

 

Does Jax Kids Aquatics offer swim lessons?

Jax Kids Aquatics does not currently offer swimming lessons or instruction. Our services include providing specialized physical therapy using the pool as a therapeutic modality. 

 

Does my child have to be able to swim?

No. Your child will be fully supported if needed by the treating therapist with the appropriate safety procedures taken based on their needs. 

 

Does my child have to be continent?

No. However, if your child is not continent of bowel or bladder, a swim diaper must be worn at all times while in the pool. 

 

Can my child go into the pool with a G-tube?

Yes. Your child will be able to enter the pool with a G-tube if provided with medical clearance from their physician.

 

What if the weather is bad?

Jax Kids Aquatics uses the Weather Bug app to determine if lightning has been detected within 10 miles from your home location. If lightning is close by, you will be given the choice of rescheduling or converting to a land-based home session. Closures at community indoor pools vary by location and will be discussed with you during scheduling.

 

Does Jax Kids Aquatics take my insurance?

Jax Kids Aquatics does not currently accept insurance and operates on an out-of-pocket payment model. Upon request, a superbill can be provided to you for submission to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. 

 

What forms of payment does Jax Kids Aquatics accept?

Cash, check, credit card, and HSA/FSA cards are all accepted. Card payments are processed securely through Stripe, a payment processing platform. Jax Kids Aquatics also accepts Step Up for Students and DSAJ Inclusion Solution funds as an alternative to insurance payment.

 

What is Jax Kids Aquatics' cancellation policy?

Appointments cancelled more than 24 hours in advanced will be provided with a full refund. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will incur a $40 cancellation charge. No show appointments will not receive a refund.

Do I need a prescription from my child's doctor?

No prescription is required for aquatic therapy. One may be requested if your therapist believes medical clearance is needed.
